History of Sariska National Park<\/h2>\n

Sariska National Park has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. The park area was once a part of the Matsya kingdom and was ruled by Rajputs in the medieval period. Later, it came under the control of Mughal emperors, who used it as a hunting ground.<\/p>\n

In the 19th century, the parking area was under the control of the Alwar state and was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955. It was later upgraded to a national park in 1979, under the Project Tiger initiative of the Government of India.<\/p>\n

The park faced several challenges in the past, including a decline in the tiger population due to poaching and habitat loss. In 2004, the park came into the limelight when it was discovered that all the tigers had disappeared from the park. This led to a massive search operation, and eventually, some tigers were relocated from other parks to repopulate Sariska.<\/p>\n

Since then, the park authorities have taken several measures to address the challenges faced by the park, including the relocation of villagers living inside the park and increasing the number of anti-poaching units. As a result, the park has seen a steady increase in the tiger population in recent years, and it remains an important wildlife sanctuary in Rajasthan.
